The pediatric hip brace stabilizes and protects the femoral head from stress and flattening.
The drop-lock with ROM adjustment every 15 degrees.
It is also known as Legg-Calve-Perthes disease and is a type of avascular necrosis. It usually occurs in children aged 3 to 14 years and is more common in boys than girls. The necrosis usually affects only one side. The main reason for the disease is that the blood supply to the growth plate of the bone located at the end of the femur becomes insufficient and as a result, the bone softens and disintegrates. Sometimes, hormonal reasons can also be observed.
A child with Perthes disease experiences limited range of motion and pain in the hip and knee area. The muscles of the buttocks and thighs become weak, and the infected leg may be shortened.
Perthes disease can last even 3 to 4 years and the results can be very serious: shortened leg with deformities, limited range of motion, abnormal gait and chronic inflammation of the hip joint.
Treatment should be based on unloading the hip to avoid flattening of the femoral head.
For this purpose, we highly recommend our hip orthosis designed for children. This orthosis reduces the risk of femoral head deformity and improves the healing process.
This 3D fabric offers high air permeability and minimal absorption of water and moisture. The moving air allows the skin to breathe and stay dry. The outer part of our AirDistance II is a hook and loop layer where the splint is attached.
The hip belt is equipped with orthopedic stays that provide better stabilization. Both shoulder straps are equipped with non-elastic circumferential straps and Velcro closures.
Our splint stabilizes and relieves your child's hip joint and prevents further injuries. Using a high-quality splint with the innovative drop-lock 1R orthodontics provides the hip position and support needed for walking.
The pediatric hip orthosis stabilizes and protects the femoral head against stress and flattening. The drop-lock orthosis with mobility adjustment every 15 degrees helps combat muscle contractures and hip deformities.
