The child hip abduction splint is a professional medical device that helps stabilize and immobilize the hip.

An avulsion fracture occurs when part of the hip bone breaks and tears. This happens when a muscle or tendon attached to the hip bone suddenly contracts and tears away part of the bone. Young children are less likely to suffer this injury because the tissues are more elastic. Ligament tears can occur during physical activity or while playing with friends. Avulsion fractures do not have "obvious" symptoms like normal fractures. The most common signs of an avulsion fracture are sudden pain or popping sound in the hip or groin during activity, swelling of the joint, and limited range of motion. Every injury should be diagnosed by a doctor who may recommend immobilizing the hip in a special brace such as our Children's Hip Abduction Brace.
