Spastic hand is the result of loss of inhibition of motor neurons in the central nervous system (CNS).
It causes excessive muscle contraction following a mild impulse such as a gentle touch.
Spasticity is most often the result of cerebral palsy (CP), stroke, or injury.
The treatment is very difficult and relies on reducing muscle tension.
Besides pharmacology and physiotherapy, passive treatment consists of a dynamic functional resting splint.
It allows the hand to be placed in the required position and stops the progression of the disease.
The Dynamic Functional Resting Thumb Splint has been designed to be fully adjustable and universal, so a patient can wear it on either the left or right hand.
Thanks to this solution, the splint has become more universal, which is a very important factor for most medical stores (they can reduce their stock volume by up to 50%);
With rehabilitation, the wrist and hand sections of the Resting Wrist Splint can be shaped to the hand to gradually position the hand from a flexed to a functional position.
The thumb can be positioned from mid-opposition to abduction. For optimum fit and comfort, the forearm section is fully moldable, improving fit and stabilization.

Optionally, the resting splint can be used with the standard or neuro-rheumatology finger separator.
Thanks to this construction, the device better stabilizes the fingers and wrist.
The upper limb fixation system is very simple - it is based on a wide spiral band of the hand and forearm and a thin band that helps stabilize the thumb.
Thanks to the large range of motion, it is possible to adjust the orthosis to the limb without any problems.
At the customer's request (additional price), the standard separator can be replaced by a neurological separator which stabilizes each finger separately.
The orthosis was designed in a complex and specific way.
The frame was made of high-quality aluminum (which can be characterized by different levels of plasticity).
It was then connected to special support rods.
Then the construction was laminated on both sides with soft foam.
In addition, the orthosis has been equipped with an adhesive function that facilitates the adjustment and placement of the bands as well as the separator.

The innovative nature of our device is that it can be fully adjusted to the shape of the forearm without any additional devices or heat.
Additionally, for this orthosis you can purchase a special neuro-rheumatological finger separator.

It allows the fingers to be correctly positioned and optimal abduction of the proximal phalanges to be maintained in the event of neurological or rheumatological disorders.
In case of spasticity, the separator prevents the fingers from being too tight.
In case of swan neck deformity in rheumatoid arthritis (RA), the construction of the device with a special fixation, corrects the fingers from the ulnar position to the neutral position.
Maintaining the optimal neutral hand position helps to stop the process of neurological diseases or degeneration.
